Gowan Company wishes to comment on the notice in the Federal register of May 4, 2011 (Volume 76, Number 86) with respect to the methidathion tolerance revocations. Gowan Company recommends the methidathion tolerance revocation date for citrus, oil; citrus, group 10; fruit, pome, group 11; and fruit, stone, group 12 be changed from December 31, 2016 to December 31, 2018. Persons, other than the registrant, are allowed to sell and distribute existing stocks up until December 31, 2014, therefore, actual applications of the product could be made in 2015. Extending the aforementioned tolerances to December 31, 2018 would allow for treated commodities to clear the channels of trade, specifically frozen commodities that can be stored longer. Although, we don’t anticipate residues in the frozen commodities, extending the date will eliminate any potential concerns for growers and shippers.
Thank you for your consideration.
