The pesticide petition put forth by the Nichino America, Inc should be extended to December 31, 2016. Scientific data found by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation shows that if people read the health hazard labels, it is enough to protect someone from being harmed by the chemical. This chemical is not a cause of great environmental harm, and if used correctly the product should be effective in its proper use. In 40 CFR Part 180, the Environmental Protection Agency explains that in order for a product to go on the market it must be evaluated thoroughly to see what harm it can cause to the environment, wildlife, and human beings. Herbicide may harm an individual’s health, but with these labels this can be avoided. Certain products should not be extended because of their potential harm when used in excess amount, but this chemical can be effective if used for its purpose. EPA has not found pyraflufenethyl to share the same form of toxicity with any other substances, and it does not appear to produce a toxic metabolite produced by other substances. The EPA also adds that there is reasonable certainty that no harm will result to the general population from accrue exposure to this chemicals residues. As long as these measurements are regularly tested and kept at a tolerable level, there does not seem to be a direct harm onto the public health unless misused, so I think there is sufficient evidence for the petition to be extended.
