BC Construction & Remodeling strongly feels that this proposed rule will infringe upon our business practices in a negative way. The cost for doing business will exponentially rise in some markets--creating a prime opportunity for less scrupulous businesses to proceed with operations without regard to laws, giving them an unfair advantage. The proposed regulations ultimately will not ensure the greater safety of the public: it is highly probable that many homeowners who would otherwise make the necessary repairs to their homes, will now be unable to do so because of increased costs. This does not promote safety and general welfare--it puts homeowners are greater risk of unsafe living conditions, due to the unaffordability of renovations. In our current economic climate, these proposed regulations will increase operating costs, increase homeowner cost, increase the opportunity for illegal business practices, and increase the likelihood that people will wait too long to get the help they need to make their homes safe.
