On behalf of IUCN's Species Survival Commission, I am requesting an extension on the comment period until the end of January, 2010.
IUCN's SSC has considerable expertise and experience in determining the conservation status of species, including those reviewed under the IUCN Red List and including for purposes od climate change. We have numerous staff and volunteer experts who otherwise are engaged in assessing treats, and developing strategies for species recovery and conservation.
Additional time, particularly given the holiday season, is needed to ensure we are best able to provide EPA with optimal comments. We have to coordinate that response with numerous individuals in offices in several countries.
Thank you,
Roger E. McManus
