Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the significant and unacceptable levels of uncertainties associated with the Draft Toxicological Review of Libby Amphibole Asbestos: In Support of the Summary Information on the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS). The studies and data relied upon as the basis of the draft IRIS for Libby amphiboles are riddled with inaccuracies, assumptions and unscientific conversions that result in unacceptable findings and useless conclusions. A glaring lack of correlation of the IRIS to the current Libby exposure scenarios undermines the legitimacy of the draft IRIS to confidently assess public health risk.
I am disappointed in the limited time provided to the public to review such a detailed document. However, I have summarized my major concerns in the attached letter.
