We support EPA's 2003 proposal to exclude solvent contaminated wipes from the RCRA definitions of solid and hazardous waste.
In an R&D environment we may generate disposable wipes, usually single use paper towels, that are potentially contaminated with flammable solvents. We may also generate paper towels potentially contaminated with trace amounts of other lab chemicals. These are not spill clean-up wastes, but are paper towels used primarily for lab bench housekeeping. Generally these wastes are not contaminated but sometimes may capture the odd drips coming from routing lab practices.
