United State Government United States Government agencys Darrell W. Williams 220 Board Tree Road Marshall North Carolina 1/6/2009 Plastic containers The United States as well as the World as we know needs to clean up it’s act in environmental concerns. I am concerned over the Corperate America Plastic container manufactures and the corperations that use plastic containers push to exclusively manufacture and place their product in plastic containers as a way I thank of avoiding the expense of using recyclable or bio-degradeable containers. Alum. Beverage containers are recycleable and or are bio-degradeable over time so is recycled paper or new paper. Corperate America needs to be held accountable for their actions. The accountability of placeing their product in plastic containers. The commercial seen on TV about plastic bottles hits home. Water in a plastic bottle will be consumed in thirty minutes but the plastic container will be for ever in the landfill. I think It is time to make Corperations who manufacture plastic containers and the corperations that use them be made accountable by charging taxes or surcharges for using plastic. Incentive plans for development of a plastic container that is bio -degradeable. Development of a grant or grants to plastic engineers to develop such a container would be beneficial to the world. Our current system of disposal of plastic containers I think should be unexceptable to the Untied States Government as a whole. I think that along with Charging manufactures of plastic containers and the corperations that use plastic containers to put their product in should be made accountable for end life of the plastic by implementing some type of tax or charge. There are a few states that have a policy on returning plastic containers to store or manufactuor. The consumer of some states are offered a 5 cent return on plastic containers or a five cent return fee. I think all States should be mandated by the Federal government to implament a return policy and incentive to return plastic to the store or manufactor for reuse. Our enviroment is seriously in danger as we all know it is time to stop disposing plastic in landfills where it will be for ever. It is time for the development of a bio degradeable plastic that can be used. Time for the return of the use of recycled paper containers. When a plastic bottle is thrown out of a car window on to the road way unless the particular state has a policy of using prison inmates to clean up the road way the plastic stays where ever it is disposed of just as nuclear waste remains a hazard to the enviroment. Have you ever seen what a plastic holder that holds a six pack of beer or cola together does to small creatures? The animal a infant Beaver, Fox or other small creatures get this six pack holder one of the six holes used to hold the can of beverage gets stuck around the animals neck as this animal grows the restraint of the plastic around it’s neck gets tighter and tighter until it chocks to death. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter Sincerely Darrell Williams
