I am writing to express my strong support of placing the Behr site on the National Priorities List. The TCE spill is a serious problem that could be very negatively affecting the residents of McCook Field. In 1976, the EPA decided to include TCE on its Hazardous Substance List. TCE has been found to cause cancerous tumor growths in mice livers, and is “reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen (1).” Some of the residents of McCook Field could be experiencing long term exposure to TCE as it has been entering their homes via vapor intrusion. The fact that the plume seems to be traveling toward the Great Miami River raises even greater concern as the number of people affected will increase dramatically.
