As a resident of Salt Lake City, I have always been concerned about the toxicity
and
waste problems of US Magnesium's operations. Requiring the facility to reduce
its air
pollution was absolutely necessary, and helped my family feel better about living
in this
area. Cleaning up the waste areas is equally necessary, as the toxicity will make
its
way into the general region over time if not controlled. Without cleanup, an
enormous
swath of migratory area for great numbers of bird species would be seriously
damaged. The cost in health and environmental impacts cannot be passed on to
future
generations. Superfund designation of this site is imperative.
