I feel the Dewey Loeffel landfill should be added to the National Priorities List. Over 46,000 tons of chemicals and VOCs were added to this landfill over a period of approximately 30 years. The Stream and Lake below the landfill are polluted. VOC's are leaching into the groundwater to the east of the landfill. General Electric and the NYS DEC have been ineffective in stopping the the leaching of chemicals into our environment. The NYS DEC cannot state that animals that drink the water or eat the fish are not at risk. The fish from these streams cannot be used as food for human consumption. This dump site needs to cleaned up and the community made whole regardless of the cost.
