Dear Mr. Mooney,
Today, Sunday 15 April 2007, we read an article in our local newspaper (The Cincinnati Enquirer) regarding the "cleaner" gasoline that motorists in southwestern Ohio may have to buy beginning next summer (2008) if the above resolution is passed. Our understanding is that this is one way for our area to "stay in compliance with the federal Clean Air Act."
Yes, this is a good idea. We feel there are also other options available for consideration which we note:
1.) Offer annual incentives (federal and / or state income tax return, perhaps?) for those motorists driving hybrid or full electric vehicles, that consume considerably less fuel (or none at all).
2.) Offer incentives for carpooling (federal and / or state tax return).
3.) Propose legislation to restrict commercial vehicles from idling their engines for substantially long periods of time.
We merely offer the above for your consideration.
Best regards,
Bill & Susan Fox
