Consumers Energy appreciates the opportunity to submit the attached comments on EPA’s
proposed rule regarding the approval of the State of Michigan’s State Implementation Plan
(SIP), and the redesignation of the Allegan County Area to attainment for the 1997 ozone
National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS). This proposal acknowledges the success
achieved by the State of Michigan, working in concert with local governments, regional
planning organizations, neighboring states, and industries, in crafting pragmatic strategies to
actually resolve nonattainment. As a Michigan-based electric and gas utility, the proposed
rule would impact facilities owned by our company.
