Mr. Aburano,
I write to request that EPA extend the comment period for this rulemaking docket
(redesignation of Illinois Portion of the St. Louis Area to Attainment) for an additional 30
days. The current comment period begins today and runs for only 30 days, through the
holiday season. The subject matter is complex and requires more time than 30 days for the
public to have a meaningful opportunity to comment. Moreover, many agency staff who may
need to be contacted for additional information to provide comments are out of the office for
vacations during the next month. Therefore, I request that EPA extend the comment period
for another 30 days, until February 23, 2012.
Thank you for your consideration of this request.
