Air pollution in Imperial County is nowhere near as significant as the pollution to the east in Yuma, AZ, or west in San Diego. I do not believe that it will ever be that bad. The same activities have been done in Imperial County for years from OHV use, farming and agriculture, to locals just driving down their street. These activities have always kicked up dust and I do not see a reason to change that now. It seems like a waste of money; money that can be spend in more populated and polluted areas. The money can be used to widen freeways, which would lower commute time, instead of idling all the way to work, and polluting more. It could be used to cut down construction time on the roadways which cause traffic. I just believe the money could be spent elsewhere, rather than nitpicking at the smaller group. Over the past few years there have been quite a few times where letters or comments like this have had to be written. First, it was Lucerne Valley. A desert where a lot of off-road races are held, and many fans flock to. Bringing Victorville, CA and Hesperia, CA more money. It was proposed to close Lucerne Valley for military expansion. But, we still have Lucerne! Then the OHV areas in Barstow, CA are proposed to have windmills placed all over the place. And we are ruining the desert? I do not think the turtles are very accustomed to giant windmills there, but we have been there for years. We will win the battle for Barstow. So now its Plaster City, Superstition Mountains and Ocotillo wells proposed to be taken away? It is not right. We cause no problems, and this is the last land we have. We will win this one too. Us as offroaders might be the minority group to fight against, but when it comes down to it, we band together and get things done. This is our life, hobby, and passion. Leave it be. There is a desert clean up in Superstition April 3rd; We are doing our part.
