I have lived in Cochise County since 1999 and am served by power from the Apache Generating Station which is one of 3 being affected by the proposed regulations regarding NOx reduction. I look out every day and see a beautiful view of the Chiricahua and Dos Cabezas Mountains across the valley along with the Dragoons directly behind me and see no discernible haze that affects that view.
The tentative increase of my electric bill due to the proposed regulations is what I would definitely call Federal Government over-reaching in their authority. It will absolutely cause extreme financial hardship to almost everyone being served by the Apache Station. The thought that my bill might increase by 18 to 20 percent is the thought that I might not be able to afford to live in this area any more. The idea that Government regulations could force me economically to uproot and move (thereby giving up a decent paying job and adding me to the mass of the already unemployed along with leaving a home in possible foreclosure due to a still-down housing market), makes me wonder whether the EPA and other agencies actually care about the taxpayers who fund them.
According to the AZDEQ, the procedures already in place at the Apache Station are doing the neccessary job regarding NOx and the newly proposed regulations and improvements using SCR technology will make no humanly visual noticeable difference in air quality whatsoever. Please put an end to this heavy handed approach by the EPA unless they are willing to come up with a plan that will mitigate the added cost to consumers such as myself and others who will have to pay for this.
Sincerely,
Ralph H. Score

p.s. My father was a Democrat who worked for DOD for almost 35 years and I'm sure he constantly rolls over in his grave because of the way our Federal Government currently treats its tax-paying citizens.
