I would like to see someone that stood up for Clean air instead of Government double talk & politics... Fairbanks Air quality is some of the worst in the nation with PM2.5 & Carbons Monoxide.. Not to mention Benzene... For about $40 a year per vehicle the I/M program keeps thousands of VERY dirty & polluting vehicles off the streets in the winter time which is a critical time of the year for Air Quality... are there other weather related factors that play in here... Yes... but this programs works at cleaning air & now EPA is proposing at doing away with what works becuase of a few loud mouth politicians that are pandering for votes, instead of thinking about the air quality for the people. Please use some common sense & keep the I/M program to keep the dirty vehicles off the streets in the winter time. This is like saying we don't like getting bad grades on our report cards so lets do away with the report card system... People do not like to have a vehicle that fails & they are the ones that complain...to do away with the system instead of fixing their cars, while thousands comply & keep the air quality report card system working... I think EPA is opening a can of worms here that will come back to bite them real bad, not to mention the nasty taste that all of us that live here have to put up with when the ice fog sets in & all those lovely pollutants can not get away. This proposal my have all the data in the world... but it lacks Common Sense Sad but that seems typical of Government today... Can't you guys be different for a change for all of us that have to breathe this air on a daily basis...
