IN REGUARD TO THE PROPOSED AD I THINK IT IS LIKE CHOPPING OFF THE
HEAD OF A DOG TO STOP THE BARKING AND WILL BE IRREVERSABLE
AFTER THE FINANCIAL RUIN IT WILL CAUSE TO THE OWNERS AND
OPERATORS OF THE THRUSH. ACCORDING TO YOUR SENSUS THERE ARE
546 SMALL BUSINESS OPERATORS THIS WILL EFFECT. THIS MAY NOT
SOUND LIKE MANY TO A PERSON THINKING NATION WIDE BUT IN REALITY
IT WILL EFFECT A LARGE NUMBER OF OPERATIONS IN FARMING
COMMUNITIES THAT RELY ON AREIAL APPLICATION TO PRODUCE THEIR
PRODUCT. WITH THE ECCONOMIC CHAOUS WE ARE CURRENTLY SEEING
IN THE UNITED STATES INDUSTRIAL AND FINANCIAL COMMUNITIES THIS
WOULD JUST BE ANOTHER NAIL IN OUR COFFIN.
AFTER THE INSURANCE COMPANIES CONVINCED THE FAA THAT A PILOT
SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE AIRCRAFT HE FLEW TO BE
AIRWORTHY THIS SOUNDS LIKE A "SNOW JOB" IF I EVER HEARD ONE.
I KNOW WITH EXPERIENCE THAT NOT ALL INSPECTIONS ARE DONE
ACCORDING TO REGS.A LOT OF "PENCIL" ANNUALS AND AD COMPLIANCE
ARE DONE OUT OF LAZINESS OR FINANCIAL REASONS. THIS BRINGS ME
TO THE SUGGESTION OF LETTING THE PILOT DECIDE IF THE AIRCRAFT
SHOULD BE FLOWN. WE DO NOT OPERATE OVER CONJESTED AREAS
AND ARE SINGLE PILOT OPERATIONS FOR THE MOST PART. THE
BUTTERFLY PANELS MUST WORK PRETTY GOOD IF IT HELD THINGS
TOGETHER UNTILL A CRACK WAS FOUND. I HAVE FLOWN THE THRUSH
FOR OVER THIRTY YEARS AND HAVE ALWAYS HAD A HANDS ON WHEN IT
CAME TO MAINTENANCE BECAUSE I WANT TO KNOW WHAT I AM
OPERATING. THERE MAY BE SOME PILOTS THAT JUST DON'T CARE BUT I
BELIEVE THAT MOST ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE AIRWORTHTNESS OF
THE AIRCRAFT. I WISH THE GOVERNMENT WOULD LEAVE IT THE THE
COMMON SENSE OF PEOPLE TO OPERATE THE EQUIPMENT THEY WISH
TO SIT IN AND TAKE THE " ralph nader" OUT OF THE BUSINESS.
IN CONCLUSION,PLEASE CONSIDER THE FEW CRACKS FOUND AND WHO
FOUND THEM AND WHAT THIS WOULD DO TO THE MANY COMPANIES
OPERATING THE THRUSH,AND NOT EVERYONE WOULD HAVE THE ABILITY
TO FINANCE THE AD PROPOSED OR BUY THE OTHER YELLOW AIRPLANE
THAT WAS DISIGNED TO BE TIMED OUT. LELAND BUILT A VERY STRONG
AND RELIABLE AIRPLANE FOR THE INDUSTRY AND REPLACED IT WITH A
MONEY-PIT. I PERSONNALLY WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOME OTHER
ALTERNATIVE,THANKS FOR LETTING ME COMMENT.
