Docket # FAA-2007-28059-0021 proposes a new Airworthiness Directive (AD) for all RB211-Trent engines to inspect the IPC stages 1-8 shaft rear balance land for cracks.
a) The proposed AD requires the use of SB 72-AG264 rev 3 and 72-AG085 rev 1. Kindly consider either removing the revisions or adding the word "or later revision", given the fact that these SBs become revised several times by Rolls-Royce and yet, the AD does not update such SB revisions (refer to EASA AD 2013-0002).
b) Kindly consider accepting the use of SB 72-AG401 rev 2 or latest revision as an alternate means of compliance, given the fact this SB also requires removal of the rear balance land. 72-AG401 is usually accomplished in conjunction with 72-AG085.
c) Remove requirement to perform an ECI on engines which have had the new balancing weights fitted per 72-AG401 and which have been previously inspected per 72-AG085.
