FAA should pursue whatever means necessary to make this work. Comments
regarding high cost of equipment are meaningless when compared to the cost to
equip. aircraft with transponders in the 70's. Today's transponders cost about the
same ($2000.00 or so) and the cost for ADS-B equip is about $9500.00 installed.
Therefore considering 30 years of inflation it makes ADS-B euipment somewhat
comparable and we should not be complaining about the cost. This system
works and I have it installed on my aircraft and I would not want to fly without it.
Install the ground stations, mandate the equipment with or without transponders
(since we all have them anyway) and get on with it. Something this good should
not have to wait so long to be implimented.
