AAL has reviewed the subject NPRM and desires to submit the following
comments. We agree that a cracked spring arm can cause separation from the
aircraft and cause injury or damage. As such, American Airlines agrees with the
intent of the NPRM, but, based on the following data, wishes to request one of the
following changes:
• The final rule be revised to refer to Revision 1, which will contain the
updated language
• The final rule be revised to explicitly identify the desired compliance
time using language similar to (or identical to) that found in the preamble to the
NPRM.
