1-The aft link and thrust collars are not necessarily overhauled such as might
be installed unmodified on aircrafts. These aft link were required to be
replaced by SB 747-27-2371.
2-It would be more important to protect the spindle by application of painting
(touch up with brush) during inspection. Only general visual inspection for
broken parts will not impart the effectiveness specially during long grounding.
It is kindly requested to please emphasize the need for protection for the bare
surfaces or with missing plating during inspection. These protections are also
covered in AMM. Spindles must be replaced with corrosion / plating peeled off or
any other discrepancy which could lead to safety of aircraft.
3-Reports should be included with number of broken spindles because as far as
PIA is concerned, the only inboard spindles were broken on aircraft. In other
words the outboards are not under much loads as compared with inboards.
