Subject: Comments, Docket No. FAA-2008-0615; Directorate Identifier 2007-NM- 352-AD, Boeing Model 757 Engine Fuel Suction Feed Test of the Fuel System References: (a) Boeing 757 MPD Section 6 Task 28-22-00-5D (b) Boeing 757 AMTOSS reference 28-22-00-725-547 British Airways has reviewed the subject NPRM and provides the following comments. 1. British Airways recognises the need to test the ability of the engine to suction feed regularly to ensure correct operation in the event of loss of pressurised engine fuel feed. 2. The task required by the NPRM is already covered by the ref (a) B757 MPD task at 1C check (6000hrs\3000cyc\18mths). 3. The NPRM only references the operational test in Section 28-22-00 of the AMM, which is ref (b): ”An approved method is the operational test in Section 28-22-00, titled 'Engine Fuel Feed System - Description / Operation' in the AMM, Task Card 28-013-01, titled 'Engine Fuel Suction Feed System' dated September 28, 2007.” The Boeing 757 MPD ref (a) also references an alternative procedure: “Note: An optional procedure that also fulfills the intent of the Requirement to operationally check the engine fuel suction feed system is to perform the engine fuel feed system (pressure) test per AMM 28-22-07.” 4. The NPRM sets an issue date for the task card to be used of September 28, 2007. British Airways only use the latest revision of instructions. 5. British Airways request the following: i. The NPRM references the Boeing MPD task, reference (a), associated with this check. ii. The NPRM references the optional procedure detailed in reference (a). iii. The NPRM allows for using AMM and Boeing task cards of the revision September 28, 2007 or later.
