This is a very important rule that should be approved. Airlines should not develop or encourage personal and friendly relationships between FAA inspectors and their employees. Nor should Airlines be allowed to hire safety inspectors. It is clearly a conflict of interest, and a danger to passengers. The relationship between FAA inspectors and the airlines should be a cordial business like relationship with no other ties. The incident mentioned in 2008 within the document could have ended with disastrous consequences had the damages not been found in time. Worse, is the amount of time it took to rememdy this issue due to personal relationships between FAA employees and airline employees. Shame on the airlines and shame on the FAA for allowing it to happen for so long. This rule NEEDS to pass.
