Frontier Airlines acknowledges the importance of the proposed Airworthiness
Directive and has, in fact, already accomplished Airbus Service Bulletin A320-31-
1276, dated April 18, 2007 on our affected fleet.
However, Frontier Airlines does not store loadable software media in the cockpit
as Service Bulletin A320-31-1276 implies. When Frontier takes delivery of an
aircraft, all loadable software media is removed from the cockpit stowage box.
Software kits, containing loadable software media applicable to all Frontier A320
family aircraft are made available to maintenance in several convenient locations.
It is Frontier’s experience that maintaining the aircraft loadable software media in
this manner is simpler, more efficient and more cost effective.
The modification instructions in Service Bulletin A320-31-1276, dated April 18,
2007 instruct to remove and discard software media F1419418 and install software
media F1461768 in the cockpit stowage box. As these instructions are in conflict
with Frontier’s current policy, Frontier Airlines respectfully requests that language
be adopted that will allow Frontier, and perhaps other operators, to stow software
media in locations other than that described in the Airbus Service Bulletin.
