It would be so much simpler to fly the aircraft under VFR and check the operation of
the Alternate Static Source. If it is not operating, then an inspection would
be required to determine cause. It makes little sense to inspect 100% of the
aircraft that use this valve before determining an inspection is actually
necessary, especially since it is so simple to do. I checked the operation of
mine yesterday. It works.
