Virgin America has (28) aircraft that would be affected by this proposed rule.
Virgin America is in support of this proposed rule, but requests that the rule
reference the acceptability of AOT A320-27A1186 Rev 01, dated 11 AUG 08 as an
acceptable method of compliance with the proposed rule.
In revision 01 of the AOT, Airbus provides additional information which is pertinent
to the subject. These revisions include:
-Reference to Goodrich documentation for Elevator servocontrol or
servocontrol rod eye-end inspection in shop as per Goodrich Vendor Service
Bulletin 31075-27-21 rev 1
-Reference to the last version of the NDT procedure Technical Note
27-34-51 as supplied by Airbus with the AOT
- Minor improvement/clarification are introduced to the AOT.
- Material change for rod eye-end thread protection at re-installation
- Typo correction / improvement (including modification of the
presentation Ref 951.0088/08 Rev 1, including the
recording/reporting proforma).
Ability for an operator to use this improved version of the AOT with the additional
information provided and referenced therein would provide a better method of
compliance and an improved level of safety for the traveling public.
