I have witnessed - first hand - the wearability of the front baggage door on the Piper Navajo Chieftain and have been concerned with the durability of the original installation design as well as the potential for inadvertant errors in the closure and securing of this compartment door, especially by ramp personnel. I have also witnessed the installation as well as the means in which the Posi- Latch certified secondary latching mechanism (STC #SA02331AK) solves this potential problem area. The Posi-Latch is a highly durable, color-coded, method of assuring the positive closure of this baggage door and is essentially error proof. I would recommend this inexpensive safety latch to any and all Navajo operators. The safety and piece of mind that this latching mechanism provides is irreplaceable.
