Let's keep it simple. What makes anybody think that the control wheels on a thirty year old airplane were installed incorrectlry uless it was a retro fit after the fact (factory)? First, ask how many inspections to date were complied with. Second, Just because a PA34 had a problem, should no way affect a a PA28 or any other PA model that was no way on the same assembly line decades apart. Someone is not performing their due dillagence. Will this AD affect the Piper Jet? The list of affected aircraft pretty much covers every Piper manufactured since oldman Piper was born. If AD's are required to require inspections on U-joints, why are there not AD's required for airframe overhaul, or mandatory engine replacement, or mandatory gear replacement. These components are required for inspection annually and or progressively already for airworthiness. The new engineers at Piper should take a look at their own Mfg. inspection checklists, and they would surely find out that this is true. I will not charge a customer $40 to look at their control yokes when that action is performed at annual inspection and is already part of the Annual fee. If the AD becomes fact, the inspection and sign off will be performed for FREE!
