During my just completed annual on PA 34 75700049, we attempted compliance iwth the relevant service bulletin. My yoke connection to the Ujoints have no witness holes. My IA consulted the drawings, and could not disengage the two parts. We are faced with DRILLING the assembly to CREATE witness holes. This is structural madness. How is DRILLING a witness hole going to forward aviation safety- we couldnt get the parts apart with a MALLET. Two failure in the whole fleet- 40 years, 42,000 aircraft. Unless you develop an AMOC I think you are going to CREATE problems in excess of those you will prevent.
