The proposed SFAR would have a dramatically negative effect on World Airways' finances. World operates wide-body jet freighters into Afghanistan on behalf of a number of different customers. In the twelve months ended 6/30/10, World carried 13 million pounds of cargo into and out of Afghanistan over the course of 246 flights. World Airways recorded approximately $44 million in revenue related to these flights. In addition to the direct losses to World that would result from the proposed regulation, we may suffer even greater losses on an indirect basis, as our Afghanistan flights operate as part of a larger schedule of flights on the same aircraft. If the Afghanistan missions are cancelled, it is possible the rest of the flight schedule will not be sufficient to support the fixed costs of the aircraft and flight crews.
