As the President of the Chicagoland Glider Council representing 220 area glider pilots I am commenting on the proposed Class B airspace in our area. We request the floor of the Western Airspace extension established for IFR approaches to the East into O'Hare to be raised from the proposed 4,000' MSL to 5,000'. Two of 3 very busy glider operations are within 5 miles of the planned extension, especially the Sky Soaring Club near Hampshire, IL. For all of us doing x-country soaring in N. Illinois the altitude restriction in a well used corridor is effectively removing that area for soaring purposes. As outlined in a letter you received from AOPA (I'm a member), the floor of 4,000' is not necessary for aircraft separation into O'Hare at the planned distance under the extension. Respectfully, Herbert Kilian President Chicagoland Glider Council
