Mesaba Airlines requests that the compliance time in paragraph (g)(5) of the proposed rule be revised from 11 months from the efeective date of the AD to 5,000 flight hours from the effective date of the AD. This change would allow the modifications to be accomplished at aircraft heavy check. Mesaba believes the modifications will take longer than the 76 estimated manhours, but in any case, will result in extended aircraft down time with resultant flight schedule interruptions if required to be accomplished within the proposed 11 month implementation schedule. Allowing the modifications to be accomplished in conjuction with the aircraft heavy check will minimize flight schedule interuptions.
