Southwest Airlines has reviewed NPRM 2009-NM-130-AD (Reference Docket Number FAA-2010-0437). Southwest requests the initial inspection threshold given in Paragraph (g)(1) and (2) be reconsidered. This proposal will pose a significant burden on Southwest to complete the inspections within the required timeframe. Southwest projects approximately half of our 737-300 and -500 fleet will require an out of sequence maintenance visit to support this effort. This is based on our current substantial maintenance schedule, fleet utilization, and the proposed compliance thresholds given based on each aircraft’s total flight cycles.
