Attention: Rules Docket No. FAA-2010-0644
Directorate Identifier 2009–NM–204–AD
Dear Sir or Madam,
In response to Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, Directorate Identifier 2009–NM–204–AD, dated July 1, 2010, FedEx Express offers the following comments:
1. The proposed Airworthiness Directive (AD) will be effective for 71 A300-600 model airplanes operated by FedEx Express and modification No. 03986 has been accomplished on all. The proposed modification per the directive is now planned before accumulation of 37,600 total flight cycles per our Engineering Order process, which is already in place.
2. FedEx Express has determined that the modification threshold will fit within our planned scheduled maintenance checks. Therefore, there will be no impact to available lift. Based on our current utilization, only three aircraft will be due for this modification within the next thirty six months.
3. The number of man-hours and elapsed time to accomplish the proposed AD inspections will not impact the overall span-time of our planned scheduled maintenance checks.
4. The proposed AD modification does not require any special inspection techniques, training or tooling.
If you have any questions regarding these comments, please contact Mr. Gibby Thomas at (901) 224-4807 or via e mail at gthomas@fedex.com.
