United Airlines (UA) concurs with the contents of the proposed rule and offers the following comments.
Paragraph (i) of the proposed AD requires to do a general visual inspection to determine that the clamp is installed on the lower bracket on the left wing as shown in Figure 3 of Boeing Special Attention Service Bulletin 757-24-0105, Revision 5, dated July 30, 2009. However, subsequent to Boeing Special Attention Service Bulletin 757-24-0105, Revision 5, dated July 30, 2009, Boeing issued Service Bulletin Information Notice 757-24-0105 IN03, dated August 19, 2009, to inform operators that the work information given in Compliance Information Related to this Revision Paragraph and in Paragraph 1.D of Boeing Special Attention Service Bulletin 757-24-0105, Revision 5, is incorrect, and that the correct figure is Figure 1, not Figure 3. Therefore, UA suggests that paragraph (i) of the proposed AD be revised to change the figure being referred from Figure 3 to Figure 1. UA further suggests that the proposed AD makes reference to Boeing Service Bulletin Information Notice 757-24-0105 IN03, dated August 19, 2009. UA also suggests that a statement be added to the proposed AD to clarify that this new requirement of the AD is only applicable to airplanes with upper and lower brackets installed in the left wing (Group 1, Configuration 1 airplanes as defined in Boeing Special Attention Service Bulletin 757-24-0105, Revision 5, dated July 30, 2009).
