Why another type airway? Has the FAA conducted an in depth analysis on the demand for a helicopter airways? Why isn’t the current system of VOR and Tango routes sufficient for helicopters? Are the separation standards for IFR helicopters different for helicopters and fixed wing aircraft? If they are the same then it makes no sense for helicopter airway. I fly a Cessna 150 will I be able to file on a TK route. In the past we had routes designated for helicopters in the northeast and the routes were seldom available for use. Why doesn’t the FAA just establish a Tango route and designate it for use by helicopters. I question the functionality and the economic benefits of yet another type of airway. I believe that the existing airway structure is sufficient and we don’t need another type airway.
