i. AD 99-17-20, Amendment 39-11266 ii. FAA NPRM 2010-NM-228-AD iii. Boeing Service Bulletin 757-25-0182, Revision 2, dated January 11, 2001 iv. Boeing Special Attention Service Bulletin 757-25-0298, dated October 16, 2008 v. Boeing Service Bulletin 757-25-0200, Revision 1, dated August 3, 2000 vi. Boeing Special Attention Service Bulletin 757-25-0219, dated August 3, 2000 The FAA intends to issue a new Airworthiness Directive which will require operators to modify the door latch fittings and witness mark placards of the off-wing escape slide systems, possibly replace the bearings and lockbase retainer in the door latch assembly, relocate and adjust the sensor target and the sensor proximity switch, and test to ensure positive door locking and corrective action if necessary. Additionally, for certain airplanes, the proposed AD would require the installation of a bumper assembly and placards. Continental has 22 aircraft in the effectivity of Boeing Service Bulletin 757-25-0182, Revision 2, 62 aircraft in the effectivity of Boeing Special Attention Service Bulletin 757-25-0298, 33 aircraft in the effectivity of Boeing Service Bulletin 757-25-0200, Revision 1, and no aircraft in the effectivity of Boeing Special Attention Service Bulletin 757-25-0219. Continental Airlines has no objection to paragraph (g) of the NPRM and the associated service bulletins in paragraph (h). Continental has completed SB 757-25-0182 Revision 1 and SB 757-25-200 Revision 1 on affected aircraft. We don’t anticipate any problem in meeting the proposed 60 month compliance period from the effective date of a forthcoming AD. Continental’s only concern with this NPRM is that CAL noticed some discrepancies in Boeing SB 757-25-0182 Revision 2, and would prefer Revision 3 be issued prior to the issuance of the new AD.
