WestJet has a concern for the wording of the proposed AD paragraph (l)(4) which states, in part, “If any damage is found, before further flight, replace the affected part with a new part in accordance with a method approved by the Manager, Seattle Aircraft Certification Office (ACO), FAA.” We understand that there were changes from the Service Document wording to explicitly state new parts are to be used and agree to this change but our concern stems from the implied requirement that each operator will have to obtain approval for a method to replace damaged parts. Boeing Special Attention Service Bulletin 737-78-1083, dated June 30, 2010 contains all of the instructions necessary to disassemble/reassemble and therefore replace any of the damaged parts that may be found from the repetitive inspections, i.e.. Fig 3 disassembles the Rod End hardware, replaces the Rod End and reinstalls the hardware. These instructions are already approved by the FAA as part of the overall approval for the Special Attention Service Bulletin. WestJet requests paragraph (l)(4) to include a reference to the instructions contained within Boeing Special Attention Service Bulletin 737-78-1083, dated June 30, 2010 Fig 3 as a method for replacing damaged parts.
