Continental Airlines Comments
1. Inspection of the Actuator Rod Ends
a. There are no wear limits provided in the SB
b. The Actuator rod end cannot be replaced on wing
c. Remove/Replace Actuator is approx. 2 hours
d. Since there is no information on actuator fallout, spare actuator provisioning is an issue
e. Overhaul shop turn time for actuator rod end replacement
f. Return to service cost of actuator will increase due to leaking and other issues when working to CMM requirements
2. Inspection of attached fitting
a. Remove/replacement of attach fitting cannot be accomplished on wing
b. The SB requires removal of the TR. SB should change to R/R TR sleeve for R/R fitting
c. Any damage found on the attached fitting will put an aircraft out of service for 8 hours/TR half.
The repetitive inspection every 7,500 hours should be evaluated over time and possibly extended based on findings/feedback.
