Life as I've always known it in my native Fairfield and Easton hometowns has been destroyed since 2007 by the FAA's illegal implementation of its Airspace Redesign noise and air pollution nightmare. I've tried everything from contacting congressmen and senators with voluminous logs of how air traffic has increased by the hundreds of planes per day overhead, to going to FAA meetings, to writing letters to the editor and working with fellow concerned citizens. Nothing has even slowed the escalation of this Kafkaesque noise nightmare. Jets roar over my home every 2 minutes from afternoon to early morning and over my favorite recreation areas in Fairfield. They pollute the Easton watershed with tons of contrail chemicals and deafen us as if we are living in Queens. You have destroyed a beautiful state and reduced me to wearing Bose noise-cancelling headphones in my home and outside on the beach and in the woods. Everything I have said since 2007 has been ignored and the situation has only grown worse. All government obfuscates, lies or just fails to respond. It's just one more inconvenient truth, but it is truth. Rep. Chris Shays DID write me on 7/7/08 that "I want you to know that the airplane noise you are experiencing is not the result of the FAA's Integrated
Airspace Redesign plan to redesign the New York metropolitan area's airspace. The airspace redesign, which I strongly oppose, is only at the beginning stages of implementation and no planes yet have been rerouted. Specifically, the changes which would impact Fairfield County will require the construction of a new facility to integrate the air traffic control functions which currently take place at multiple facilities." Nothing of this sort of new construction has taken place, so why have planes been rerouted over my home since 2007 and the Redesign begun illegally? This whole nightmare and the rogue agency perpetrating it must be stopped and started over from scratch in the light of day under proper oversight.
