Appendix 1, Section 11
As part of the installation of the Flint tip tanks it is necessary to modify the rib at WS222. These modifications include cutting out the rib to accommodate the fuel and vent lines for the aux tanks. We also give the installer the option of removing the rib completely aft of the aileron. This portion of the rib is used to close out and add integrity to the Cessna rib. The Cessna rib is removed and replaced by the Flint tips. Our recommendation is for the aft potion of the rib to be removed since it is no longer performing any function and could become dislodged at some point and interfere with aileron function. The Flint tip has its own closeout rib which maintains the structural integrity of the wing at WS222.
Appendix 1, Section 13
Per Flint Aero Drawing FA337-IN, Rev F Dated 8/24/96 there should be no unreinforced cutouts in the wing skin. Flint Aero provides doublers for all added inspection openings.
Appendix 1, Section 14
Per Flint Aero Drawing FA337-IN, Rev F Dated 8/24/96 there should be no penetrations of the spar cap except as necessary for the mounting of the tip tanks.
