This is a response to the proposed change to the Atlanta Class B airspace, FAA Docket FAA-2011-1237, Airspace Docket 08-AWA-5.
The ATL Class B should not be changed. One of the primary reasons stated in the NPRM is the rule that ATC must notify any aircraft leaving the Class B regarding the exit and re-entry. This rule is outdated. I am confident that Controllers could either modify or abolish this rule in favor of one that reduces workload. As an airline pilot, I do not care that I am exiting the Bravo - what I do care about is that ATC continues to provide a diligent watch on traffic and separation. In addition, this rule predates TCAS and other traffic safety tools that give pilots more situational awareness regarding traffic. Do not change the Class B - instead use the energy to modify or delete this outdated ATC radio requirement.
