Operations in Class D Airspace

Based and fly all day in Delta airspace. Wht's it going to take? Does ATC have to spell out every tiny detail to get one plane fron one taxi way to another? Come on, if ATC states "N12345, taxi parking via delta, charlie, alpha and have a great day", what more do you need? Yes you could be crossing run ways. You just received permission! Sheesh. It is perfectly legal to stop and hold short if one needs to and regain permission if unsure. In fact, it is perfectly legal to stop, shut down the engine, get out and look around if need be - are you kidding? This change will gaurantee more confusion, and truely slow down operations at busy Delta airports. I would like the FAA to enact a change to ATC where ATC SHALL/MUST lead the airplane by leesh to the the takeoff point, in fact, run it down the runway as well :-) We call that digitally sensored roadmap reading - automatic (cruise control) taxing. Remember, the pilot in command is ALWAYS responsible.
