Docket No. FAA-2012-0150; Directorate Identifier 2011-NM-234-AD
Comment 1:
Further to EASA AD issuance, it has been identified that part of the affected population may have been previously modified from part number C16291AA into C16291AB as per the initial issue of SB C16291A-34-009 without incorporating the SB C16291A-34-007 Rev 01, mandated by EASA AD 2011-0203. In that case, those modified units are not covered by the EASA AD or FAA NPRM.
The THALES SB C16291A-34-009 replaces the heating vane PNR E14060BA or PNR E14060BB or PNR E14060BC by a vane PNR E14060BD (AIRBUS SB 34-1444).
This THALES SB C16291A-34-007 inspects the three resolvers on the angle of attack sensors with the SNRs listed in the paragraph Effectivity and replaces only the resolvers which are not identified by a prefix A or Z by new resolvers with prefix A or Z.
The THALES SB C16291A-34-009 was revised (to Rev 01) on Jan 7, 2010 to add the following: reason for revision "To Add the accomplishment of the Service Bulletin No. C16291A-34-007 revision 1 or later in the Concurrent Requirements paragraph."
Thank you to consider amending the content of this AD to cover the above described configuration.
Proposed wording:
“(x) In case SB 34-1444 or VSB C16291A-34-009 at original issue has been embodied on units identified to have a s/n as listed in Thales Avionics Service Bulletin (SB) C16291A-34-007 Revision 01, unless already accomplished apply instructions of VSB C16291A-34-007 Revision 01 on these units within 12 months from AD effective date.
(y) Units that have been modified in accordance with the instruction of VSB C16291A-34-009 Revision 01 or later revision, are compliant with paragraph (x) of this AD.”
Comment 2:
THALES SB C16291A-34-007 R02 dated Dec 16, 2011 has been approved under AIRBUS DOA No. EASA.21J.031.
Thank you to mention SB C16291A-34-007 R01 and R02 in the paragraphs (g) and (i) of the AD.
