I have a 69 Mooney M20C that's been through at least 42 annual inspections - 12 since I've owned the plane. Of those 12 annual inspections, approximately 75% were conducted by Mooney Service Centers. The most recent annual was last week. The IA told me it was one of the best maintained planes he has seen. I know my plane is perfectly safe! If you feel you need to pursue this topic I suggest you get Mooney to pay for the inspection. After all, it is their manufacturing defect. It seems like there should be oversight at the factory. Otherwise, require the inspection at the NEXT annual. I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH THIS! My plane has been in the air for 42+ years. Requiring an inspection within the next X hours is ridiculous for older "vintage" Mooneys. If you feel this is necessary, than I suggest we overhaul the entire annual inspection process. Because what you are suggesting is that we have incompetent mechanics inspecting our aircraft. I think otherwise. Best regards, Paul T. Dorris
