Service bulletin 84-57-24 original issue referenced in the NPRM has an error in a work step that needs to be corrected before the rule is adopted. The service bulletin references the wrong figure number in 3. Accomplish Instructions, B. Procedures, (8). It is our recommendation that the FAA not adopt the proposed rule until the manufacture revises the service bulletin and corrects the reference. The manufacture was notified of this error on 3-6-12. If the FAA adopts the rule using the SB as it currently written it will require operators to file for an alternate means of compliance before they can accomplish the proposed actions.
