United Airlines recognizes the requirement to upgrade to the more robust contactors and hopefully all compromised areas of concern have been addressed regarding the equipment. We are also aware of the benefits that the containment trays can provide. Although, it must be stressed to the OEM that diligence must be provided to ensure quality escapements are eliminated. The cost of contactor procurement may be prohibitive to operators and may be due to liability but 2nd and 3rd tier outsourcing, if used, may be a culprit in premature degradation and failure.
