JAL Engineering is a MRO and has a contract with JAG to do all heavy maintenances for JAG747-400 (RT681, 682) airplanes.
When we evaluate the BSB747-25-3381 R1,
we had a question about FWD & Aft cargo compartment light area per this SB Figure16 view I.
When we researched the airplane,
there was no foam installed around cargo light as attached photos.
Also the cargo light p/n BR7203-701 doesn't contain any foam as attached.
Thus JAL can't identify the existence of the foam pad which is required to remove by SB747-25-3381 R1 Figure 16 View I.
So we asked Boeing if the SB revise to indicate that these light areas are typical locations as attached.
But the revised SB doesn't reflect this comment.
So we would like FAA to give a permission for the applicability of the SB Figure 16 View I only if the foam pad exists.
