Modifications of Class B Airspace: Las Vegas, NV

View Comment

I fly into and out of the Las Vegas Class B airspace on a daily basis under both VFR and IFR operations for both business and pleasure. After reviewing the proposed modifications, I have one major concern that affects mainly VFR operators. The Las Vegas controllers regularly deny VFR traffic entry into the Class B airspace. The result is VFR aircraft are forced to fly around, under or over the Class B airspace significantly increasing operating costs and decreasing safety. Aircraft trying to land at VGT or HND airports are forced under the Class B airspace and closer to precipitous terrain. The proposed expansion will only exacerbate this problem.
