I believe this rule is very important and deserves the utmost consideration. Five reported incidents of second stage power turbine disk damage is telling. The recommended inspections may be costly but they could save lives. These inspections would also prevent more extensive damage to the power turbine. Extensive damage could result in higher costs for repair work. I understand that it would also take a number of hours to conduct these borescope inspections but I still believe it is the right thing to do. The investment of time and money will pay off if it makes these helicopters safer.Equiptment such as this should be properly maintained as they can pose a real threat to those who use them. Any mode of transportation using flight should have safeguards to ensure equiptment isn't faulty. This would be another such safeguard.
